Several strategies are currently being developed to improve the therapeutic efficacy of current drug moleculesx000D
or new drugs are being developed with better performance due to many factors such as drug resistance,x000D
cytotoxicity of the drug molecules in therapeutic doses, degradation before reaching the target, difficulty inx000D
storage for long term and solubility issues. Therefore, there is a need to develop nano-drug delivery systems tox000D
address to the above issues. In our laboratory we have develop safe and effective polymer and nanogels systemsx000D
for the delivery of both small drug molecules and macromolecules (such as protein, siRNA and DNA). Thesex000D
polymer based nano-systems have been engineered for excellent protection of the drug molecules, highx000D
encapsulation and with targeting abilities. In collaboration with TC Scientific Inc., the goal of this project is tox000D
develop an effective nano-drug delivery system for the therapeutic delivery of both hydrophilic andx000D
hydrophobic drug molecules. The temperature responsive nature of this nano-system will allow the facilex000D
encapsulation and controlled release of the drug in active form.
