A major challenge in continuous care is the adoption and retention of new technologies. Introducing ax000D
technology solution that requires no change in behaviour of the patient or caretaker maximizes the likelihood ofx000D
adoption and retention, and unlocks the potential of technological improvements to increase the quality ofx000D
patient care. Studio 1 Labs is a Canadian technology company that has developed an intelligent bed sheet withx000D
fabric sensor technology for continuous monitoring of physiological information such as heart rate andx000D
respiratory rate. This monitoring is completely non-invasive and involves no hassle for the patient as it enablesx000D
the detection of clinical endpoints without requiring any attachments to the body. The potential for adoption ofx000D
this technology is high, as it simply involves replacing existing bed sheets with the intelligent bed sheets, andx000D
has the potential to reduce the costs of continuous monitoring. The purpose of this project is to design andx000D
implement improved electronics and signal processing systems to enable more widespread deployment of thex000D
intelligent bed sheet.
