But du programme :

The objective of this proposed research project is to demonstrate the viability of polar codes for the upcoming 5G wireless communications standard. 5G systems will have higher throughput, lower latency, and lower energy consumption than previous standards such as LTE. Therefore, the objective of this proposal is to demonstrate the viability of low-complexity polar decoders for 5G. To do this, we aim to develop algorithms, architectures, and implementations of polar decoders that have equivalent error-correcting performance as state-of-the-art solutions (i.e. Low-Density-Parity-Check (LDPC) and Turbo Codes), but with lower hardware implementation complexity (speed, area, and power), improving upon the state-of-the-art in the field. Huawei Technologies Canada will benefit from this project through the development of technology and proof-of-concept demonstration platforms for polar codes in 5G. Training of Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) is at the core of the proposed research project. The proposed research project will train 14 students and postdocs. The proposed research will help deliver significant improvements to society and quality of life of Canadians through technological innovation enabling the next generation of wireless communications systems.x000D
