Electrified vehicles (EV) - which include hybrid, battery, plug-in, and fuel cell technologies - will be critical in helping Ontario meet its 2020-2030 GHG emissions targets. The next generation of EVs will require improved electric motor and associated control technologies.x000D
The project will focus on advanced EV motor control technologies. McMaster will research a set of
inter-related issues that have been identified by our industry partner, Sevcon. The anticipated outcomes of the project are: improved electric motor control technologies for new and existing EVs, that will enable them to run "greener" and reduce emissions; and improved motor testing technologies which Sevcon will use to integrate their controllers with electric motors. These technologies that will enable its partners to integrate Sevcon controllers with electric motors, accelerate the time-to-market for new vehicle electrification solutions, and realize greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions sooner.x000D
