Arbus Homes Inc. is seeking technical assistance from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) tox000D
improve the design of its truck bed cover to meet the load bearing needs and activities of building contractorsx000D
and recreational users. The company has used many types of truck covers currently available on the market tox000D
carry items for its construction business, but none of these is able to meet all of the performance criteria set outx000D
by Arbus Homes. As a result, Arbus Homes designed and developed its own load bearing truck cover andx000D
successfully tested it for basic loading functions. Design refinement and further engineering assessment on loadx000D
bearing capacity and materials are needed before the cover can be commercially manufactured and introducedx000D
to market. The proposed project will review the prototype truck cover, and provide design modification andx000D
optimization recommendations for the product.
