The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) has been approached by AirMarket Inc. to validate thex000D
spatial accuracy of their FLY-SAFE technology. This software package is aimed at improving safety andx000D
compliance in the drone industry by changing the way regulatory and site assessment information is accessedx000D
by the public and professional drone users. The project will initially focus on developing a comprehensivex000D
sampling strategy for accuracy validation. Next, multiple sample points will be selected across Canada, andx000D
point positions will be measured using the FLY-SAFE software. Coordinates provided by the software will bex000D
compared with those derived from conventional air navigation charts, as well as information from the NAVx000D
CANADA Designated Airspace Handbook, where applicable. The project aims to provide confidence that thex000D
spatial accuracy of the points measured using the software meets or exceeds stated tolerances, and that XYx000D
(lateral) positional information can consistently be derived to a higher level of accuracy than is possible usingx000D
existing products, such as small-scale navigational charts.
