Archer Daniels Midland is one of the world's largest agricultural processors and food ingredient providers, withx000D
more than 32,000 employees serving customers in more than 160 countries. In Canada, the company has a totalx000D
of 42 facilities located in Alberta, Manitoba, Québec and Ontario; employing over 1000 people. The companyx000D
has a global value chain that includes 428 crop procurement locations, 250 ingredient manufacturing facilities,x000D
38 innovation centers and the world's premier crop transportation network. ADM is making products for food,x000D
animal feed, industrial and energy uses.x000D
ADM has a wheat flour wet mill facility located in Candiac, Québec. This plant is processing Canadian wheatx000D
flour. To render the plant more competitive, the processing conditions will be optimized to allow the mill tox000D
process wheat flours having different compositions, and maybe extend the range of Canadian feedstock whichx000D
could be processed in Candiac. In order to optimize the plant, a laboratory scale model of the plant will bex000D
reproduced. The flours which will have successfully passed through the laboratory model will be characterizedx000D
and compared to the flours which will have not successfully completed the run. This will allow engineers atx000D
McGill to modify the operations conditions in function of the flours being processed.x000D
By optimizing the plant conditions, less expensive Canadian wheat flour may be used at the Candiac plant,x000D
which would also help the plant to be more competitive and purchase more Canadian wheat.
